CHAMELEON meets spatial cognition

چکیده
Intelligent MultiMedia (IntelliMedia) focusses on the computer processing and understanding of input from at least speech, text and visual images in terms of semantic representations. We have developed a general suite of tools in the form of a software and hardware platform called CHAMELEON that can be tailored to conducting IntelliMe-dia in various application domains. CHAMELEON has an open distributed processing architecture and currently includes ten agent modules: blackboard, dialogue manager, domain model, gesture recogniser, laser system, microphone array, speech recogniser, speech synthesiser, natural language processor, and a distributed Topsy learner. Modules can communicate with each other and the blackboard which keeps a record of interactions over time via semantic representations in frames. Inputs to CHAMELEON can include synchronised spoken dialogue and images and outputs include synchronised laser pointing and spoken dialogue. An initial prototype application of CHAMELEON is an IntelliMe-dia WorkBench where a user can ask for information about things (e.g. 2D/3D models, pictures, objects, gadgets, people, or whatever) on a physical table. The current domain is a Campus Information System for 2D building plans which provides information about tenants, rooms and routes and can answer questions like \Whose ooce is this?" and \Show me the route from Paul Mc Kevitt's ooce to Paul Dalsgaard's ooce." in real time. Projective spatial relations are expected to occur often with the IntelliMedia WorkBench and Campus Information System and we give here a worked example of how the query \Who's in the ooce beside him?" is processed by the frame semantics, showing all frames appearing on the blackboard. CHAMELEON and the IntelliMedia WorkBench are ideal for testing integrated signal and symbol processing of spatial cognition, language and vision for the future of SuperinformationhighwayS.

Chameleon: personalised and adaptive fall detection of elderly people in home-based environments
Threshold-based fall detection has been widely adopted in conventional fall detection systems. In this paper, we argue that a fixed threshold is not flexible enough for different people. By exploiting the personalised and adaptive threshold, we propose a novel threshold extraction model, which meets being adaptive to detect a fall, while only taking consideration of data from activity of daily ...

In an urban built environment, on the one hand people behave based on their spatial cognition of the environment spatial behavior in interaction with the environment depends on the spatial cognition. On the other hand many researches have also pointed that spatial configuration as the relational characteristics of the physical elements of environment, influence on the spatial cognition. متن کاملAn ID-Based Anonymous Proxy Chameleon Signature Based on Bilinear Pairings
Anonymous proxy signature is suitable for the situation where the proxy signer's identity needs to be kept secret. The verifier needs to reveal the real identity of the proxy signer with the help of the original signer. A new ID-based anonymous proxy chameleon signature scheme based on bilinear pairing is proposed in this paper. This scheme is based on Gap Diffie-Hellman group and meets the sec...
متن کاملVisually Guided Avoidance in the Chameleon (Chamaeleo chameleon): Response Patterns and Lateralization
The common chameleon, Chamaeleo chameleon, is an arboreal lizard with highly independent, large-amplitude eye movements. In response to a moving threat, a chameleon on a perch responds with distinct avoidance movements that are expressed in its continuous positioning on the side of the perch distal to the threat. We analyzed body-exposure patterns during threat avoidance for evidence of lateral...
متن کاملReference Problems in Chameleon
This paper discusses the problem of endophoric/deictic references in multimodal dialogues involving speech and pointing gestures. The dialogue system in focus is a building information system implemented using a general workbench architecture “Chameleon”. Chameleon and the building information system have been developed within the IntelliMedia 2000+ project initiated 1996 by the Institute of El...
